Trent, Smith help boost Ole Miss pitching staff

It’s a Louisiana-heavy pitching staff for Ole Miss as LSU visits tomorrow.

Christian Trent was once a part of the LSU program and has burst onto the scene at Ole Miss after a season at Delgado Community College.

Sam Smith has steadily improved in the Ole Miss program.

LSU was in action last night and had an easy time with Southern Miss in a neutral site game in Metairie.

interesting thought. I believe that LSU’s best chance is Thursday when their super ace pitches. I think that Ole Miss’s best chance is Friday when Trent pitches and LSU goes with their number two. I guess that we will see.

I’m pretty sure that Nola is pitching Thursday. It would be an unusual, though not unheard of, strategy to save their ace for the second game.

    SU all-American right-hander Aaron Nola
(7-1, 0.70 ERA) will start Thursday’s game on the mound for the Tigers,
followed by freshman left-hander Jared Poche’ (6-2, 2.54 ERA) on
Friday. Saturday’s LSU starting pitcher has yet to be determined.
