Opportunity for Anderson

Big start for Ole Miss freshman left-hander Evan Anderson tonight.

First pitch against Southern Miss is 6:30.

This start would ordinarily go to senior left-hander Jeremy Massie. Massie, though, was instrumental in Sunday’s 9-6 sweep-securing win over Kentucky as he pitched four scoreless relief innings to get the win.

Anderson’s previous starts have been against Southeastern Louisiana and UAPB, and he worked limited innings in both. In fact, Anderson has thrown just 11.1 innings over seven appearances. He has an 0.79 ERA.

Southern Miss is 26-19 overall, 14-7 and second place in C-USA.

The Golden Eagles defeated Ole Miss 5-3 in Pearl on March 25. They’re hitting only .243 as a team, and their leading hitter, Tim Lynch, is hitting just .294.

Southern Miss will start right-handed senior Cameron Giannini who is 3-2 with a 4.13 ERA.
