Friday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Friday morning …

Johnny Manziel once challenged the nearby Houston Texans to draft him No. 1. They didn’t, and Manziel slid to No. 22 with the Browns last night. Now he’s Johnny Cleveland.

His teammate, big wide receiver Mike Evans, went to Tampa Bay with the No. 7 pick.

Food for thought if you laughed at Manziel’s lower-then-expected selection:

The slide didn’t change Jaylen Walton’s opinion of Manziel:

Starting with Jadeveon Clowney at No. 1, it was a good day for the SEC in the draft’s first round.

It’s likely that Ole Miss receiver Donte Moncrief gets a call today in Round 2. A number of other Rebels are projected as free agents. …

Elsewhere, from USA Today, a Q-and-A with Big 10 commissioner Jim Delaney who discusses his conference’s interest in expanding to the east. …

First-year Georgia coach Scott Stricklin is focusing on the positive as the Bulldogs visit Oxford for an SEC series this weekend.

Ole Miss assistant coach Cliff Godwin has a suggestion for your evening plans regardless of weather:
