Ole Miss at Arkansas State

The Rebels are back in action tonight at Arkansas State with a first pitch at 6:30, weather permitting. The forecast looks rainy.

A rainout wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing for Ole Miss. The only benefit is that a win could have decent RPI value. Arkansas State has been on bubble of a 50 RPI and is currently listed at No. 54 by WarrenNolan.com. That gain is outweighed by the prospect of losing and the Rebels damaging their own RPI — currently 15 — as they did with the loss to Southern Miss a few weeks ago.

Whatever happens tonight and this week at College Station, the Rebels remain confident in their offense, even though they’ve been held to two runs or fewer in three of their last four games.

Here’s Auston Bousfield:

Here’s Will Allen:

Bousfield begins the week leading the SEC in hitting at .367 with Allen third at .351.

Ole Miss is hitting a collective .303, tied for the SEC lead with Kentucky. Texas A&M is third at .286.

Bousfield leads the SEC in hits (81) and Allen (73 ) and Austin Anderson (68) are in the top five.

Sikes Orvis is second in home runs with 12, Allen third with seven. Braxton Lee leads the SEC with 24 stolen bases.

Arkansas State is 29-22 overall, 17-10 and in second place in the Sun Belt, six games behind Louisiana-Lafayette (remember the hyphen) which is running away with the thing.

The Red Wolves are hitting .270 as a team with a 4.25 ERA. Their leading hitter is Matt Burgess with a .318 average and 52 RBIs.

Ole miss needs a win here against the Red Wolves( i believe they were once the Indians) anyway the name change is not important, but Ole Miss change is very important with me, they are still the Ole Miss rebels and the Ole Col is still there in spirit whistling Dixie.out with politic now and back to baseball one of my favorite sports. Rebel win tonight with two from TexA&M, they close in on the Gator for overall top spot in SEC. Gators travel to Knoxville this week to take on the Vols. Gators win two and they hold the SEC lead, thereby S..Carolina and Vandy fight it out for second place SEC East. This scenario hold on and i believe Oxford will be a place for a host regional tournament and possible Super regional. that beautiful baseball stadium is one of the best in college baseball a good day to all enjoy it .

as much as it hurts me to say, the blackbears are definitely the best in the west and deserve to host a regional at the very least.

        • NigeI Gruff

          imposter.

  • Nigel Gruff

Ooopsie! Well now what will you do? You better check with a lawyer, because you’ re committing identity theft and you can get in trouble or cause this blog some legal issues.

    • NigeI Gruff

      lol. imposter.

      • TheGiantRebel

Maybe Warner Bros. will sue the “both of you” since you are using a trademarked name from their film “The Replacements”. I will let them know!

  • Nigel Gruff

No pal, you’re the imposter. You see, when you create an account, the date which it’s created on is there. So all that has to be done is look it up. Since mine was created before yours, mine is the real one.

    • NigeI Gruff

Really? What date was mine created? Good luck getting that info.

  • Nigel Gruff

Better lawyer up, because the law is on my side. I have the time and financing to pursue litigation. Identity theft is a serious crime, even on media sites. Think I’m bluffing?

    • NigeI Gruff

I don’t think you’re bluffing. It is just obvious that you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about

    • a name

Ohhhhh! Getting back to your Cid days now bragging on your wealth. I can’t remember, but in one of your past names you also claimed to be a lawyer. Maybe you can try your own case if you can get a judge to quit laughing long enough…

  • Nigel Gruff

Thought about that before I created my account, there big guy! That’s why I registered the name Nigelgruff45. You see, the 45 is the difference. I’m on top of things, but thanks for watching out for me. I appreciate you.

    • NigeI Gruff

lol! good luck with that one.

      • Nigel Gruff

Don’t need luck. When DISQUS receives the DMCA takedown notice, they’ll look up the registration dates and they will determine who had the account first. It’s out of my hands, now.

you really are ignorant if you believe that anyone believes that BS.

I believe Ritter and Logan have the best odds of making a team. It’s the lack of repetitions that they’re going to have to overcome. Belichik has an eye for untapped potential.

I wish that I could watch every game of the 4 teams involved in the SEC West race in baseball, this weekend. I have a feeling it’s going to be won or lost on Sunday.

    • TheGiantRebel

This week’s games are Thu – Sat. LSU could easily sweep Auburn. The rebs and dogs have it tougher this weekend. Will be good games for sure.

  • Nigel Gruff

Read a good article on ranking the SEC West QB s….they had Marsall at #1, Wallace at #2 and Prescott at #3. With Bama, LSU and A&M breaking in new QBs and Arkansas being Arkansas, maybe one of the Mississippi teams can win the west.

    • TheGiantRebel

Yes. And preferably that team would be OLE MISS.

  • Nigel Gruff

You are a desperate little rascal. I’m not going away. I will continue to convey my opinions about sports in the great state of Mississippi.

  • JB

i don’t know about Arkansas State but some of the lesser known schools like Louisiana-Lafayette, Mercer, Florida Gulf Coast can stand in there and slug it out with the big boys. Mercer and FGC both have beaten the Gators this season. Louisiana-Lafayette I believe is rated in the national polls as about 3 in the nation. OLE miss in my days in Oxford had an enrollment at about 6,000.students the smallest in the SEC other than Vandy.this weekend was grad day at Ole miss and some the crowd at my wife’s family reunion was there and reported that Ole Miss had 5,000 Freshmen all ready enrolled for coming season., Don’t know where they will put them. Oxford is expanding rapidly could not be too long until Tula, be incorporated in to Oxford, that will be bad in my thinking, Tula in my days we were farmers and town folk shied away from us until our wagons loaded with cotton started rolling in. My guess the same old crowd still exist in Oxford. No cold Beer served there all us old GI.s like a cold one every now and then.

  • Nigel Gruff

Big Reb, you’re alright in my book. It would be cool, in my opinion, if State and Ole Miss both get to Omaha. Represent the great magnolia state!!!

  • Nigel Gruff

By the way, since there’s a guy assuming my identity, The real Nigel Gruff will leave this emoticon after his post.
