Baseball Update

Perfect Game doesn’t close the door on Ole Miss as a national seed but also doesn’t list the Rebels in the top eight in their most recent projections.

Here’s what Kendall Rogers has to say about the Rebels:

Mississippi: Rebels fans will be discouraged to see LSU as the No. 8 national seed in this morning’s postseason report, but they’re still strongly in the mix for a national seed. As a matter of fact, if not the Tigers, the Rebels are my next choice. Ole Miss needs LSU to get knocked off in the SEC tournament finale. Meanwhile, Ole Miss has an RPI of 13, a non-conference RPI of 18 with a 128 non-conference SOS. Also, the Rebels finished the season 15-7 on the road, along with a 6-4 mark vs. RPI Top 25, 15-13 record vs. RPI Top 50 and 24-16 record vs. RPI Top 100. Additionally, don’t forget the Rebels finished the regular season as the SEC West Division champs, ahead of LSU, of course.

      From the Jackson,MS paper:

OXFORD — The college baseball postseason is headed back to Ole Miss for the first time in five years.

The No. 14 Rebels (41-18) were one of 16 teams announced Sunday by the NCAA as regional host sites for next week’s start of the postseason. Ole Miss, which won the SEC West, has not hosted an NCAA regional since 2009 (though it did go on the road three of the last four seasons).

An announcement of the full field will be at 11 a.m. Monday on ESPNU. The eight national seeds will also be revealed at that time.

Well then, Gators beat LSU for SEC
tournament championship then the Gators need a national seed, since they will be the overall SEC champs, but I think LSU will beat the Gators and Ole Miss will be looking in from the side line. Rebels deserving a go to the CWS,its time for them, its been such a long tome back since they went to Omaha, Jake Gibbs days.
