SEC commissioner Mike Slive finished speaking a few minutes ago.
He says he expects this week’s meetings to be somewhat mild in comparison to other Destin meetings through the years.
Among the big topics will be the movement toward more autonomy for the power conferences. That move will set in motion something the league has been talking about for a long time, and that’s “Full Cost of Scholarship” which would allow more benefits for players. What exactly that will look like depends on how the autonomy discussions go and what comes from that.
Slive also announced upcoming SEC men’s basketball tournaments for St. Louis and Tampa. With Nashville as the semi-permanent home the league will be under contract for its men’s tournament through 2025.
Good stuff about his feelings on the current state of talks with TV providers about the SEC Network in Slive 2.
