Muschamp has high praise for new OC Kurt Roper

New Florida offensive coordinator Kurt Roper left Duke and David Cutcliffe to join the Gators. Roper was Cutcliffe’s quarterbacks coach with Eli Manning.

Here’s what Florida coach Will Muschamp had to say about spring drills and his early time with Roper.

“I was just very impressed in the interview process. Obviously your tape is your resume as a coach. The job he did at Duke was outstanding but a very simplistic approach, very positive. He brings an edge offensively and our guys really enjoy what we are doing. They’ve bought in totally to where we’re headed with this thing and I think he did a really good job in 15 days installing the majority of the offense.

“I think you’ve got to credit our entire staff and what they did, but Kurt’s a really good football coach. He’s exactly what David Cutliffe said he was, and all the people that I talked to about him as a ball coach. It’s all ball, that’s what he’s all about. Our kids really enjoy him, he’s got an edge to him that we needed offensively from his position to bring that confidence back to our kids. Our kids enjoyed practicing again. It’s just been fun to watch.”

Muschamp believes his quarterback Jeff Driskel, who appeared in only three games last season because of injuries, will thrive under Roper’s fast approach.

“It’s what Jeff was recruited to do, and that’s a lot of the reason we went to (the new offense). I think it’s a very good fit for him. I think he’s comfortable. Jeff’s going to have a very good year. I’m really excited about where we are and where we’re headed with him.”

I think the Gators will be back to winning form this season, thanks to New Florida offensive coordinator Kurt Roper and the return of quarterback Jeff Driskel. Jeff is a QB along the line and likeness of Ole Miss outstanding QB Bo Wallace, a run and shoot style behind a very good OF line.. Driskel got hurt two years ago down at Coral Gables in a game against the Miami Hurricanes and so went the Gator offense leaving the Gator machine in the hands, at that time of a national rank defense, but the Good defense could not carry the load and gave under pressure – therwill be a vey strong gator football team on the field season, BEWARE NOLES the Gators are back and so is the Ole Miss Rebels under the capable hands of Bo Wallace.
