Destin Day 2 Wrap

Today has gotten off to a rainy start. That’s unfortunate since it’s the first day of the week for which meetings have not been scheduled.

Presidents and chancellors are in town now, and they meet from 1:30-5.

Tennis, golf and a sandcastle contest are all part of the agenda, and the forecast doesn’t call for much improvement. Fingers crossed.

Our Day 2 coverage of the SEC spring meetings …

While the bigger leagues call for more power what happens to the smaller ones? It’s hard to imagine C-USA, the Sun Belt and the like being happy with less say, but Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork says the goal is to retain the current number (128) of FBS schools.

Best quote of the day was from MSU basketball coach Rick Ray who said, “Everybody talks about everything being even, but in actuality it’s not even. Let’s stop playing like it is.”

Also, the SEC basketball coaches want to improve the league’s image. Ultimately the goal is to gain more bids to the NCAA tournament.

Andy Kennedy says the coaches are in full agreement to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal.
