MLB draft begins tonight

Here’s a glance at the MLB draft schedule. (Coverage at and MLB Network):

Today, 6 p.m. – Round 1, Compensation A, Round 2, Compensation B

Friday, 12:30 p.m. – Rounds 3-10

Saturday, 12 p.m. – Rounds 11-40

Earlier projections has Ole Miss right-handed pitcher Chris Ellis as a possible first-round pick. I haven’t kept up with more recent projections as the season has gone on.

Other underclassmen to keep an eye on over the next couple of days are left-handed pitcher Christian Trent, center fielder Auston Bousfield, first baseman Sikes Orvis, left fielder Braxton Lee.

Names of signees to watch include left-handed pitcher Foster Griffin, second baseman Tate Blackman, center fielder Clay Casey, shortstop Ti’Quon Forbes.

Griffin could be off the board today. Perfect Game projects him as a first-rounder.
