Rebels flip two standouts from MSU

johnsonBy John Davis, Oxford Citizen

For Jay Johnson and Armani Linton, flipping from Mississippi State to Ole Miss just felt like the right thing to do.

The two standouts from Bruce and Walnut, respectively, both attended Ole MIss’ Friday Night Elite Camp today and both came out as Rebels after entering as Bulldogs. Johnson (6-foot-3, 211 pounds) and Linton (6-2, 196) are both ranked highly in the state of Mississippi.

Scout.com and Rivals.com both have the duo rated as three-star prospects. Johnson, who also had interest from Auburn, has been projected as a defensive end, but he excelled at wide receiver during Friday’s camp and has his sights on offense now.

Linton is a safety all the way and his verbal pledge now garners at least one the safeties the coaching staff is looking to sign. (Two is the desired number there).

Ole Miss now has eight verbal pledges for the 2015 class, and the third in just over a week.
