No date set for parking garage

As I visited with Ross Bjork to talk baseball yesterday we also talked parking. There’s no announced date as to when the new parking garage adjacent Vaught-Hemingway Stadium will be open for business.

“We don’t have final answers right now,” Bjork said.

The primary obstacle has been the weather. There were 11 rain days in June, well above the five-year average, Bjork said.

The garage is expected to have 823 parking spaces.

“It’s still very fluid. We’re working hard every day with Yates Construction to figure the exact impact. There’s more to come on that,” Bjork said.

Field of Dreams!!, :-)If memory serve me correctly, that now parking lot
is where the old baseball field was located. As a youth I use to
attend Ole miss baseball games there. In one game, i believe it was
agains Tulane, one of the Hickerson brothers hit a long HR that
carried out to the Hemingway stadium ,Gene Hickerson went on to be come
an all-pro guard with Cleveland Browns.

  • I attended the Ole Miss/Vandy game last season. I drove straight up to Vandy’s parking garage next to the stadium and paid $10 to park. I am guessing that UM’s will be more like $10,000.
