Freeze from the SEC teleconference

A few highlights from Hugh Freeze’s time on the SEC teleconference earlier today.

Included in his opening statement was an expression of appreciation for Chick-Fil-A and its support of college football and the SEC.

“We’re excited to come away with a win last week. I thought our defense played extremely well for most of the game as did our special teams. Our offense struggled the entire first half but settled down in the second half and played much better. We hope to improve in all areas Saturday in Nashville.” …

The Ole Miss-Vanderbilt rivalry

“I’ve only been back in it for two years, but we’ve had two phenomenal games with them. When I was an assistant here we had some good ones also. More than just the competitiveness of the games, they tend to get up extremely high for us. I think it means a lot because of the close proximity, the fact that we recruit the same kids in the Tennessee area. It means a lot to both programs.” …

On LP Field and whether it will seem like an Ole Miss home game

“It will be my first experience playing them there. In our bowl game we certainly traveled well. Our fans always travel well so I expect a very good representation there. It will be nice if it does, but I’m not sure if it will or not.”
