GameDay and Ole Miss

Lee Fitting, the senior producer for ESPN College GameDay, said on the Paul Finebaum Show yesterday that Game Day will be in Oxford for the Ole Miss-Alabama game provided both teams are undefeated. posted this Friday evening.

The undefeated stipulation in that scenario is significant. Ole Miss will be the more talented and deeper team today and in its next two games, but the Rebels will have to play cleaner. If not, they could slip up somewhere.

It’s also quite possible the Rebels could endure some sloppiness and win the next three games. They were able to do that against Boise, and Boise has a good football team.

ESPN employee Joe Tessitore works with the SEC Network and will handle the call for today’s game.

He had some good things to say about the Rebels’ defense Friday but alluded to the sloppiness shown against Boise when he talked about a “non-existent” run game and a quarterback in Bo Wallace who “creates opportunities for the defense.”

I’ll say this. The SEC Network folks are fired up for their bus. You heard it also from Marcus Spears yesterday.

Brock Huard will join Tessitore today as the analyst. The sideline reporter will be Shannon Spake.

Today’s game is the only SEC-on-SEC matchup.
