Also, check out the Vanderbilt entry — No. 3 — in this week’s Misery Index from USA Today. We had a conversation about Jordan Matthews in the press box during the game. Stephen Rivers isn’t a great quarterback, but there were passes in the game that Matthews would have caught last year. One on Vanderbilt’s opening drive with Mike Hilton covering comes to mind. …

A couple of losses on Saturday for Ole Miss’ next two opponents. However, Memphis appears to be improved and is scoring points. The Tigers put a scare into UCLA on the road.

Before Memphis it’s La.-Lafayette visiting Ole Miss this weekend for the Rebels’ home opener. The Cajuns turned the ball over three times and gave up 533 yards while losing by four touchdowns to La. Tech at home. Here’s the breakdown from the Lafayette Advertiser.

Speaking of Ole Miss opponents, check out what Boise did in Week 2. The Broncos put up almost 700 yards in beating Colorado State 37-24. Jay Ajayi ran for 219 and a couple of scores. …
