One of the big need areas for the Ole Miss coaches to sign in the 2015 signing class are offensive linemen. Two days after gaining an important verbal pledge from Memphis’ Drew Richmond, the Rebels got more good news from a Tennessee based product.
Alex Givens, a 6-foot-6, 292-pound tackle from Nasvhille Christian, chose the Rebels over Vanderbilt in a ceremony held at his school Thursday morning. Givens is the 11th verbal pledge for the Rebels in the 2015 class, and second offensive tackle in as many days.
He is also the third player from Tennessee to have committed to the Rebels. Cornerback Ugo Amadi, of John Overton High in Nashville, was the first to become a pledge during the spring.
Givens is considered a three-star prospect by recruiting analysts. He is rated as the No. 23 overall player in the state by Rivals.com. He also had an offer from Tennessee, garnering that during the late spring.
Ole MIss coach Hugh Freeze said during his weekly press conference Sept. 1 that signing offensive linemen, as many as four, was a big goal for he and the coaching staff.
