SEC Power Rankings

Wow. Difficult week for the rankings. I thought Auburn was a team that had shown some cracks in the foundation against Kansas State and La. Tech. The Alabama Tigers, though, were dominant on both sides of the ball against LSU which gave up 41 points and did not have a turnover. That’s not easy to do. Auburn had 566 yards, and LSU was 0-for-13 on third downs. So Auburn moves to No. 1, and it was hard to decided where to re-insert LSU. I had them a couple of different spots before dropping them all the way down to 13 with the rationale that Arkansas, Tennessee and Florida have been competitive in SEC games while LSU has not been save for a couple of late plays against Mississippi State. I kept Texas A&M ahead of Georgia because I’m still trying to get a read on Georgia. One of the measuring stick games for both Georgia and A&M is South Carolina. For A&M, that big opening night win in Columbia loses luster every time the Gamecocks take the field, and Georgia’s loss in Columbia begins to look worse. I’ll keep South Carolina ahead of Arkansas because the Gamecocks do have a couple of conference wins, one of them against Georgia.

How in the world do you put state above Ole Miss? They beat a bad LSU team and an A&M team that is not nearly as good as everyone thought. Ole Miss beat Alabama the number 1 team. If they beat Auburn this week and Ole Miss looses then you can put them ahead of Ole Miss but as of right now Ole Miss has a better resume. State gave up 500 yards against UAB.
I understand you try to be fair. I understand why you picked Alabama to beat Ole Miss but this is ridicules.

State is a really good team and I hope they have some games that shake their confidence before the egg bowl. Even if they don’t I still think Ole Miss is the better club. A&M has lost some of the value of their best win. ARK should have won the A&M game. LSU is a middle of the road or lower SEC (Not just the west) team. Ole Miss has the only win with real value between the two schools. At this time, State should be below the Rebels. If Ole Miss plays bad or does not win and State beats Auburn, I can then see State ahead of Ole Miss.

I won’t argue with your rankings, PA. There is a lot of football left to be played, with Presbyterian being our only sure win. Hotty Toddy, Rebels, let’s win them all!
