Looking for answers

There are a number of factors in Bo Wallace’s suddenly sinking completion percentage. One of those is production on first down. Wallace believes the answer is to abandon the conservative play-calling that Hugh Freeze has admittedly employed alongside what has been an outstanding defense.

Parrish, I enjoyed your article. I know a lot of people are considering this week’s game an elimination game. It very well might be. But I want to float a very possible scenario in these last weeks of the SEC. There is a possibility that the winner of the SEC has lost 2 games in the end. It may seem far fetched, but given the parity in the West this year a definite possibility. Here’s how that might play out:
Auburn beats OM and GA, but loses to Bama to finish 6-2
OM loses to Auburn but goes on to beat Ark and MSU to finish 6-2
Bama loses to LSU but goes on to win out to finish 6-2
LSU goes on to win out to finish 6-2
MSU beats Ark, but loses to Bama and OM to finish 6-2

Given that these teams would also all be 2-2 against each other, the tie breaker would go way down the list. Regardless who wins the tiebreaker, if they go on to win the SEC championship, how could that team be left out of the playoff even after losing 2 games? Especially when they come from a division with 4-5 teams with 10 wins.
There are also other scenarios where there would be a three or four way tie.

Obviously, I hope that doesn’t happen. I hope OM beats Auburn and Ark and plays a 0 or 1 loss MSU team in the Egg Bowl for the Western Division Championship!

Regardless of what happens, it is going to be a great sprint in these final weeks. I’m excited!

Lee, I think a two-loss SEC champion would get in the playoff. Having three teams in the top four right now shows the committee’s respect for the league and the understanding of the road that must be traveled to win the conference.
