Freeze and the carousel

With Hugh Freeze’s salary at $3 million the number of jobs that could lure him away is reduced.

Freeze has talked about journey and building a winner at Ole Miss in his home state. He’s sincere.

Florida, though, is a program that would give any coach a reason to stop and think. With the Gators’ job now officially available Freeze’s name will be mentioned a  lot. Today’s it’s mentioned by Bruce Feldman.

Feldman calls Freeze a “recruiting machine,” a fact that won’t be lost by the Gators’ administration. Any coach Florida hires steps into a talent-rich state and a great recruiting situation.

My guess is Hugh Freeze is coaching at Ole Miss next year, but the Silly Season is coming. In fact, it started in earnest with Will Muschamp’s firing. You’ll hear Freeze’s name in a lot of places …

Ole Miss fans hope they’ll continue to hear Freeze’s name associated with a top 10 Rebels team.

That’s the case today as Ole Miss, after an open date, climbs two spots to No. 8 in the AP Top 25.

The Rebels also moved up two spots to No. 8 in the coaches poll.

Ole Miss is at Arkansas Saturday at 2:30.
