More Florida coach speculation. Matt Hayes of The Sporting News wonders if the time isn’t right for the Gators to land former Spurrier assistant Bob Stoops.
More from Hayes:
Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork and Arizona AD Greg Byrne two good dudes, smart guys. Guessing working right now to keep their coaches.
The Freeze name is getting more early traction than Dan Mullen. It’s been speculated that Mullen’s relationship with the Florida administration was not great.
SaturdayDownSouth.com puts Freeze on the Florida short list but offers no further commentary.
CampusInsiders.com mentions Freeze but doesn’t have him in their top three for the job.

Hugh Freeze at Florida could be a homerun hire.
Kurt Roper, a David Cutcliffe assistant at Ole Miss and Duke, took a shot with Florida this year. Now he is looking for work.
Andy Staples writes that Roper’s inability to develop the passing game this season contributed to the Gators’ struggles. …

Freeze definitely will not be coaching Florida this weekend. He’ll be coaching the Rebels at Arkansas. A difficult place to play already, Fayetteville will be tougher with the Razorbacks’ surge of confidence after a 17-0 win over LSU.
Arkansas will be a little lighter in the wallet after this celebration. The Razorbacks had lost 17 straight in the SEC. After Freeze got his first SEC win in 2012 against Auburn, he got his second in the following conference game against Arkansas in Little Rock. …
Georgia fans’ fears were confirmed Sunday when the school announced that running back Todd Gurley had torn his ACL in the Bulldogs’ 34-7 win over Auburn. …
