Friday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Friday morning …

From C.J. Hampton, a bit of recruiting analysis:

Working ahead a little right now while keeping one eye on the Ole Miss women’s game. Matt Insell really has increased the talent level for this team. Maybe that will be rewarded in SEC play. Right now the (Lady) Rebels are 3-0 in the SWAC  after a 91-68 win over Southern. Last night’s was more competitive than wins over Grambling and Mississippi Valley State. Southern was seven to 10 points back until the last five minutes or so. Tia Faleru had 29 points and 19 rebounds for Ole Miss. …

Hitting the road for Fayetteville this afternoon. Hope I remember the rain gear.

An Omaha Challenge update:

A great Mississippian remembered by his son:

Soon to be former Florida coach Will Muschamp wants to coach again and soon. Word on the street is he’ll have plenty of opportunities, many of them in the SEC. …

From Nola.com, the LSU quarterback discussion is revving up again after the Tigers were blanked 17-0 at Arkansas. …

Steve Spurrier digs into opposing fan bases — especially the in-state rival — when he’s not even trying. Or says he’s not trying. Should be an interesting South Carolina-Clemson game. A loss and Clemson fans would have to think if they can’t get Spurrier this season will they ever? …

As though it needed something to assist with struggle, Vanderbilt has dismissed running back Jerron Seymour. The Commodores are at Mississippi State Saturday. …

As Ross Bjork and Hugh Freeze do, Georgia coach Mark Richt also likes the idea of an FCS team on the schedule. …

Kentucky coach Mark Stoops is asking his fan base for patience. Every fan base gives that for a little while. …
