The buzz word coming out of Ole Miss this week is “prepare,” or some form of the word.
That’s not surprising given the Rebels’ slow start in last week’s 30-0 loss at Arkansas.
Cornerback Senquez Golson used the word “prepared” five times in less than three minutes.
“This game is for bragging rights. We’re going for the win. We need the win, and we’re getting prepared.”
Do you feel pressure to win?
“I wouldn’t call it pressure, but there’s a sense of urgency to get prepared, get my guys prepared and make sure the defense prepares. Today at practice we had the most energy I’ve seen probably in the past month and a half. Our guys are ready to roll … executing the game plan … we’re going to be ready to roll.”
Golson slipped in “prepared” once more in reference to last year’s 17-10 overtime loss at MSU.
“I don’t think we came to play. They had the energy, and they had a great football team. It was rough, but we remember what happened. We’re getting prepared for a fight. I don’t think our guys will be over it until we see what happens Saturday.
Tight end Evan Engram also emphasized preparation … three times.
“We’re focused on us, we’re focused on our well-being and our preparation,” he said.
This is also a big week for video with clips from last year’s game being shown.
“We’ve seen (Chris) Buttgen some clips that he put together to get us pumped right before practice, to bring that bad taste back in our mouths to help us get going for practice and prepare well.”
