Freeze Update

I’m hearing now that the new contract money could be higher than I reported yesterday, that it will be around $4.5 million a year. These are Twitter posts from Hugh Freeze and Ross Bjork this morning:

Mississippi has the lowest per capita income in the U.S., terrible literacy rates among children, but we have a coach that makes $4.5MM. Of course, it’s okay, because he thanks god. Is anyone really dumb enough to believe that a god chose to answer Hugh’s prayer to earn millions more, verses someone who went to bed hungry last night? Ridiculous.

There’s a reason I don’t send the school any money.

I’m willing to bet that you aren’t the only one at Wal Mart that doesn’t send the school money. Now get back to stocking those shelves.

Football coaches generate more revenue than what they are paid. It’s akin to the CEO of a large company who makes the big bucks because they produce results (net profit) for their shareholders. A winning football program brings national recognition, thus increasing student enrollment.

If you (Doug) looked a partially filled glass of water, I bet you’d say it was ‘half empty’ instead of ‘half full’. Right?

FYI: Coach Hugh Freeze is a Christian and not ashamed of it. Hugh Freeze was named Grant Teaff Coach of the Year (2013) by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Now, aren’t YOU ashamed of yourself Doug?

Freeze thanking God has nothing to do with Mississippi’s income rate. Who says that Freeze has prayed to make millions? Did he tell you this? What is your source? Oh, that’s right you don’t have one. I agree that is an outrageous amount of money to coach a team, but what a college pays their coaches has nothing to do with MS’s income. If they paid him $40,000/year, MS would still be in the same shape.
