Linebacker coach Tom Allen headed to South Florida

Ole Miss linebackers coach Tom Allen has reportedly accepted a job at South Florida.

Allen, who also coordinates the specials teams, has been at Ole Miss the past three seasons with coach Hugh Freeze after coming with him from Arkansas State.

Allen has ties to the Tampa and St. Petersburg area having coached high school football there 20 years ago at Temple Heights as the head coach and as the defensive coordinator at Seffner Armood High School.

South Florida has hired Allen to become the defensive coordinator under coach Willie Taggert.

Allen recruits the Midwest, Florida and Texas primarily. One of his top targets right now is Indianapolis linebacker Darrin Kirkland.
