Settling into Atlanta

Getting settled into a room in Atlanta tonight. The team also arrived earlier this evening.

I hope it’s been a Merry CHRISTmas for everyone. I’ve been off the grid for a few days.

We’ll visit with Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze tomorrow morning. It will be Freeze’s first time to visit with media since the Chad Kelly blow-up last Sunday.

Freeze said Sunday he was gathering facts on the matter. Since he did not immediately cut ties with Kelly it would seem Kelly’s chances of joining the program are pretty good unless a Jan. 5 court date goes awry. Ole Miss starts spring semester classes in late January.

I would not expect Freeze shed much light on Kelly’s status tomorrow.

Before the blow-up tight end Evan Engram had some interesting things to say about Kelly’s signing:

Engram — happy to be back in Atlanta near his hometown of Power Springs, Ga. — has been a major part of the offense all season, but the number of times he’s been targeted has increased since the loss of Laquon Treadwell against Auburn and, later, the loss of Vince Sanders against on a hit out of bounds against Mississippi State.

He hates the idea of teammates getting hurt but likes the idea of getting the ball more.

It will be interesting to see what different ways Engram might be targeted when there’s been a month between games.

Ole Miss will need someone to step up among its receivers. The likely candidates are Quincy Adeboyejo and Markell Pack.

The team got into town this evening and will have an official welcome party tomorrow night at the College Football Hall of Fame.

If you’re staying downtown you should have breakfast at the French Quarter Cafe on Forsyth street.

Thanks a lot Doug. Maybe there are some Saints fans there. Tough to be a Whodat guy in Atlanta right now.

Eric is a real French pastry chef, the food is excellent.

Evan Ingram is a real ‘class act’. Hope he has a memorable game with many touchdowns.
It’s hard to predict a score. TCU is a 3.5 pt. favorite. I think the Horn Frogs will be far outnumbered in fan support. That could help to decide who wins.
