Peach Bowl Update

Getting settled in here as the head coaches prepare for a joint presser at 8:30 CT.

In the meantime …

TCU players were visibly irritated by SEC questions Monday, particularly one from the back of the room that began something to the effect of “You guys are getting ready to play a game in SEC country.” That wasn’t my question by the way.

TCU receiver Josh Doctson, one of the three players on the podium, took it on first in a manner that let you know he didn’t like it. There were plenty of rolling eyes at the question.

The Frogs say the idea of the SEC as the dominant league in college football is a media creation. Ole Miss defensive end C.J. Johnson disagrees.

From the Mother Ship, Conference pride and the Peach Bowl.

TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin says the Texas defense was the one that gave him the most trouble during the regular season. That was in a game the Horned Frogs won 48-10. Peel back the layers, though, and you see that Boykin’s numbers were fairly pedestrian. The TCU defense forced a bunch of turnovers and gave its offense great field position. Most of that occurred in the fourth quarter when the Frogs scored 24 points. It was less than 2 minutes left in the first half before Boykin got his offense into the end zone.

Boykin says from what he’s seen on video, the Ole Miss defense is better than Texas’.

Also, Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, injured through the latter stages if the season, is feeling “excellent.” …
