There’s been a lot of disappointment in home basketball at Ole Miss early this season, but the Rebels, after a slow start, dominated the Governors of the Ohio Valley Conference.
Two Ole Miss players were in the OVC last year: post-grad transfers Terrence Smith and MJ Rhett. Smith had a nice game with 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting and 2-for-3 from the arc. Rhett had five points, four assists and four rebounds.
Andy Kennedy has some good things to say about Smith in the video:
The Rebels had four in double figures led by Jarvis Summers who is shooting a lot better than he was three games ago.
Summers has shot at least 50 percent from the field in three straight games now. Today he had 18 points on 6-for-12 shooting and was 2-for-3 from the arc.
Stefan Moody had 14 points on 4-for-8 shooting. He was 4-for-7 from the arc.
Dwight Coleby had 12 points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes before fouling out.
The Rebels entered the game shooting just 33 percent from 3-point range but were 52.4 percent today.
Ole Miss had 19 points off 16 turnovers forced and had 15 second-chance points.
The Rebels were plus-11 on the glass and had 23 assists. Aaron Jones, LaDarius White and Sebastian Saiz each had eight points.
This was the last tune-up before SEC play. Up next: No. 1 Kentucky in Lexington on Tuesday.
