Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze shared his plan for troubled quarterback Chad Kelly through a text message this morning.
Kelly received a sentence yesterday that would allow him to join the Ole Miss football program immediately. However, Freeze says a decision on Kelly’s status has not yet been made and will not be made until later this week at the earliest.
In the text Freeze said he will have a phone call with Kelly and Kelly’s family tonight. After that phone call Freeze said he will “take a couple of days and make a decision based on everything.”
Yesterday in a Buffalo court Kelly pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct for his role in a right outside a Buffalo bar in late December.
Kelly was rated a four-star prospect and one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the nation when he signed with Clemson out of high school.
Behavior issues led to his dismissal there, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said.
His most recent incident came just days after he’d signed a scholarship with Ole Miss. He led East Mississippi CC to the community college national championship this year.
