Wednesday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Wednesday morning …

Ole Miss is getting some love in the way too early preseason rankings this week. ESPN has the Rebels at No. 11,

It’s interesting that TCU is the choice for No. 1 over Ohio State. TCU so thoroughly defeated Ole Miss that it became the darling of the bowl season conversation backed by the drama of being left out of the playoff already.

My thinking is Ohio State should be the way too early No. 1 with TCU at No. 2. As impressive as TCU was in one postseason game, Ohio State was that impressive in two. Just a thought.

USA Today likes the Rebels even more. It has them at No. 9 and calls them in essence a darkhorse to win the SEC West.

It doesn’t have them as a team to watch for next year’s playoff, however. Check out who the paper believes will be there.

This from former Ole Miss running back I’Tavius Mathers:

LSU gets a man for defensive coordinator, maybe not the man it wanted, but a man with experience in Alabama linebackers coach Kevin Steele.

Here’s what to expect from a defense of Steele:

This from Andrew Bone, an Alabama-based recruiting writer:
