Five Ole Miss commits make final 247 Sports list

By John Davis, Oxford Citizen

One third of the football players committed to the Rebels for the 2015 class were ranked on the final 247 Sports Top 247 list released Monday evening.

The highest ranked prospect was Petal offensive lineman Javon Patterson at No. 32 overall. Patterson was followed by Brookhaven linebacker Leo Lewis (No. 66), Memphis offensive tackle Drew Richmond (97), Georgia running back Eric Swinney (114) and Walnut safety Armani Linton (141).

Ole Miss currently has 16 players either committed or signed for the 2015 class with two weeks until National Signing Day.

Two more targets — wide receiver DeMarkus Lodge and defensive end CeCe Jefferson — also made the 247 list. Lodge, who hails from Cedar Hill, Texas, was ranked No. 57 overall, while Jefferson, from Baker County, Fla., was No. 11. Both are expected in Oxford this weekend, attending the large reception setup for recruits and family members who accompany.

Jefferson made his official visit to Ole Miss for the Alabama game, so his trip would be classified as unofficial. Lodge, who attends the same high school as Quincy Adeboyejo, is being pursued by Texas A&M and LSU. He is originally from Jackson, with his mother still living there.
