Jason Pellerin’s second trip to Oxford was a lot different than his first last summer when he came to camp.
Pellerin, the Rebels’ high school quarterback pledge for the 2015 class, was one of the 18 players who traveled to Ole Miss to check out the campus, and get to know the players he would be with the next four to five years of his life.
Everything on the trip went well, said Pellerin, who is now up 228 pounds on his 6-foot-4 frame.
“I like just about everything, just hanging out with all the players. I know some schools, their team chemistry isn’t all there, but my host was Cody Core and he was telling me he visited all kinds of colleges when he was getting recruited,” Pellerin said. “He said he could just tell that there were all kinds of clicks on the team. He was telling me at Ole Miss, it’s one big family. Of course every school is going to say that about their program. But coming up this weekend, and seeing everybody, all of them just hanging out and clowning around, laughing, you could tell they were all a big family. The whole community, it’s just a great place to be.”
One of the visitors that Pellerin got to know a little better was five-star wide receiver DeMarkus Lodge, who is making a decision between Ole Miss and Texas A&M, among others.
“I talked to Lodge a little bit. It wasn’t much. I just told him that we need him and just seeing him throughout the weekend, I could tell he had a good time,” Pellerin said. “He has a good relationship with the receivers there already. If I had to guess, I would say he was going to Ole Miss.”
