The end of January has Ole Miss in a familiar position on the bubble for the NCAA tournament. Joe Lunardi has the Rebels among his first four out. Lots of SEC flavor in first four out and next four out.

If those guesses are in the ballpark upcoming games against Texas A&M and Tennessee will be pretty big. Both of those are one-time opponents and both are in Oxford which may or may not bode well for Ole Miss.

What absolutely will not bode will for the Rebels would be losses to rival Mississippi State (198 RPI) and Missouri (150 RPI) this week. The Bulldogs visit Wednesday night at 8, the Rebels are at Missouri Saturday afternoon.

In what is a better overall resume year than the SEC has seen lately, Missouri and MSU have the No. 13 and 14 RPIs in the conference.

There are high expectations for LSU baseball this spring. The Tigers recently held their media day. The Ole Miss media day is coming up the second week in February. …
