I am not in Columbia today, but here are a few box score notes.
When you hold a team under 50 in its own gym you’re doing good things.
The Rebels were plus-6 on the glass, better than they were against Mississippi State and really what they needed today against a Missouri team that frankly isn’t very good most of the time but can be good some of the time. Ask Arkansas and LSU.
Five of those rebounds were from Stefan Moody who again did not shoot well from the arc (1-for-4) but did score (23 points). This is an aspect of the game that Marshall Henderson didn’t really present with any consistency. If he wasn’t knocking down 3s he usually wasn’t scoring.
Moody was 6-for-11 from the floor and 10-for-10 from the free throw line. I’ve read about the dunk. Didn’t see it, but I will soon.
Ole Miss didn’t get to the free throw line like it did against MSU but was a very solid 13-for-15 at Mizzou.
There were nine rebounds from Martavious Newby and five each from M.J. Rhett and Sebastian Saiz.
Opponent field goal percentage was much better. MSU shot 55.6 the other night, Missouri just 31 percent while Ole Miss shot 44 percent on the road. Not bad.
Basically, the Rebels won two games this week that haven’t really boosted their RPI but would really have pulled it down had they lost.
They’ll get a chance to boost that RPI Wednesday night at home against Texas A&M.
