Report: LB Leo Lewis no longer a Rebel

By John Davis, Oxford Citizen

Unwilling to do interviews with reporters in the late stages of the recruiting process, Brookhaven linebacker Leo Lewis has made it clear through social media that he i son longer a Rebel.

Lewis, who visited Ole Miss last weekend and is at LSU currently on a trip, re-tweeted a report first made by Demetric Warren that Lewis was no longer committed to Ole Miss. That occurred at 11:15 Friday night.

Lewis (6-2, 238 pounds) is the highest ranked linebacker in the state and one of the top inside backers in the entire nation. He has been the talk of speculation regarding a possible defection or de-commitment for several weeks.

As of Saturday morning, Lewis has not committed to LSU or any other school. Attempts to reach his phone in the past several weeks have been unsuccessful, and that has been by design.

In an interview with the Sun Herald’s Patrick Ochs on Jan. 19, Brookhaven coach Tommy Clompton said that Lewis has changed phones “three or four times” and that he has had trouble getting in touch with him.

His message of a de-commit has made it out and the next thing to monitor is where does Lewis land next?

I’ve read that Leo has academic issues. Will he be going the junior college route?
One thing is for sure: the sun will rise…from the east…on the Ole Miss campus…Thursday morning. It would be nice to have a linebacker with the talents/skills of Leo Lewis, but life will go on if he goes elsewhere.
