Arkansas State at Ole Miss postponed

Update 9:20 a.m.

No cold baseball today. Ole Miss-Arkansas State has been postponed. No date on a make-up announced at this time:

Currently, the 4 p.m. baseball game against Arkansas State is still a go.

Ole Miss will start sophomore left-hander Evan Anderson, who I thought pitched pretty well as the first guy out of the bullpen on opening day against William and Mary. At least Anderson got off to a good start.

In relief of Christian Trent he pitched a scoreless sixth with three strikeouts. He struggled in the seventh, an inning that also included an error. Without the error he’d have been in a two-outs, no runners on base situation. Instead, he didn’t recover and allowed a handful of hits, three runs, two earned. He didn’t walk anyone.

Anderson was 2-0 with a 2.11 ERA over 21.1 innings and five starts last year.

Arkansas State left-hander Jon Glidewell is making his first appearance of the season.

The Rebels and Red Wolves split two games last year. Ole Miss leads the all-time series 69-21.

Arkansas State won twice at home against Eastern Illinois on opening weekend. ASU pitching struck out 35 EIU batters, but the Red Wolves hit just .215 on the weekend.

Arkansas State is coached by long-time Mississippi State player and assistant coach Tommy Raffo, now in his seventh season in Jonesboro.
