Report: Bjork says no to Missouri

Ole Miss athletics director Ross Bjork will not return to one of his former schools for the same position, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting.

Bjork worked at the University of Missouri as assistant athletics director for development from 1997-2003 before taking a job with the University of Miami.

Missouri AD Mike Alden announced on Jan. 29 that he will step down from his current job at the end of August.

The newspaper cited a source in reporting that Bjork was approached about the possibility of becoming AD at Missouri but declined interest.

Bjork will soon complete his third year at Ole Miss. He was hired March 21, 2012.

Ross is the real deal. He’s not a ‘fly by night’ climb the ladder kinda guy. He’s dedicated to ”the journey” that both he and Freeze have taken in order to make Ole Miss sports the best in the SEC. He has done the best job IMO of any other athletic director at Ole Miss.

Ross has a done a lot of good work in almost three years. That’s why other schools will look at him. I’m not convinced that saying no to Missouri means he’ll be at Ole Miss indefinitely. I do think it means he’s not itching to leave right now. Situations like this are always fluid. If Bjork one day chooses to leave chances are he’ll leave the department in better shape than he found it. That’s all anyone can reasonably ask, and it makes the transition easier for the next AD.

Can’t disagree with you PA. Though, I hope he stays a long time.
