Tuesday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Tuesday morning …

Monday was quite a day filled with Ole Miss news nuggets. Stefan Moody won the Howell Trophy, which was expected, and Tia Faleru did not win the Gillom, which was also expected.

Moody will have a great chance to repeat next year:

A Buffalo judge said Chad Kelly had successfully completed service requirements associated with his late-December arrest, and his attorney declared the case close.

One story that was not on the radar, however, was the retirement of 49ers linebacker and former Ole Miss star Patrick Willis. An official announcement is expected today.

Willis today may shed more light on why he’s choosing to retire at 30. Maybe there’s new health news that helped him make his decision. It’s curious because it’s a 180 from what he said last fall when it was announced that he was done for the year.

I’ll say this. Patrick Willis remains one of my favorite Ole Miss players to cover. There are many plays that stand out, but what I remember most is his respectful humility. …

Arkansas finished the 2014 season on a roll, and a lot of the new Razorback recruits want to be part of the action as quickly as possible:

Speaking of recruiting, a top Texas prospect has rescinded his commitment to Oklahoma in the wake of a racist video that surfaced at an OU fraternity. …

They’re getting fired up about the coming of the indoor football practice facility at Georgia. Still stunning they’ve been without one this long. …

Ole Miss baseball is in need of a surge of offensive to bring home a meaningful win or two in a mid-week series at No. 15 Louisville. 3 p.m. first pitch today and tomorrow against former Mike Bianco assistant Dan McDonnel. The Rebels arrived in Louisville yesterday:
