South Carolina defeated Missouri 63-54 last night.
It’s the third win in four games for the Gamecocks.
South Carolina shot better than 45 percent for the fourth time in that stretch.
Sindarius Thornwell led South Carolina with 18 points. He was 4-for-7 from 3-point range, and the Gamecocks were 7-for-19 from the arc overall.
Giving up the 3 is the biggest weakness for the Ole Miss defense, and it was glaring in last Saturday’s loss to Vanderbilt when the Commodores were 13-for-23 from the arc.
South Carolina shot just 36.7 percent from the floor and 16.0 percent (4-for-20) from the arc when Ole Miss won 64-49 in Oxford on Jan. 31.
Missouri was plus-9 on the glass but had 16 turnovers that led directly to 20 points for South Carolina.
Michael Carrera had 12 points and six rebounds for the Gamecocks. He’s 6-foot-5, not extremely fast or athletic, but he’s a hustler and seems to be in the right place at the right time.
