Video Blog: Trent, Weathersby lead Rebels past No. 1 Gators

By John Davis, Oxford Citizen

Ole Miss opened SEC play at home Friday night and the Rebels ended up with their most complete game of the season in a 4-1 win over the No. 1 Florida Gators.

The Rebels may have only collected six hits against three Florida pitchers, but they were timely. Christian Trent had a no-hitter through 4.1 innings. Then, Scott Weathersby pitched as well as he has all season, slamming the door shut the final 2.2 innings to garner his second save of the year.

JB Woodman got the Rebels off to a great start with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Austin Knight added a two-run single in the sixth for some insurance.

It was a much needed win for the Rebels, who improved to 12-9 overall and 2-2 in league play. There is a chance for a doubleheader Saturday with rain forecast for Sunday. A decision will come in the morning.

Here is a video of Trent, Knight and Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco following the win.
