Ole Miss baseball RPI drops 10 spots after getting swept by UAB

After getting swept by UAB yesterday the Ole Miss baseball RPI, according to WarrenNolan.com, has dropped from 4 to 14.

The Rebels are at Arkansas for three SEC games beginning Thursday. The Razorbacks are 11-12 overall, 1-5 in the SEC, and have an RPI of 148, worst in the league.

Conference USA scored another win against the SEC as Southern Miss defeated Mississippi State 3-0 last night.

The SEC’s overall RPI has dropped from No. 1 to No. 2.

In two seven-inning games against the Blazers Ole Miss scored just two runs in losing 6-1 and 3-1.

“We’ve seen this before where we just don’t do anything well,” Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said after the second game.

“We didn’t give ourselves a shot on the mound. We give up a couple of runs early in the first game, give up a couple of runs early in the second game. Offensively, we were not able to do much. It’s a bad combination. The good teams, the teams that win consistently, seem to always give themselves a chance. It may not always work, but it starts on the mound, putting up zeroes, keeping the other team down and then giving yourself a shot by getting some baserunners, executing the offense and getting the timely hit. In 14 innings we really didn’t do that.”

Ole Miss goes into the Arkansas series hitting .249.
