Baseball series begins tonight

I’ve always been a bad news first kind of guy.

The bad news is the Rebels are coming off a mid-week debacle when they scored just two runs in being swept by UAB.

The good news is the Rebels have been better in SEC play. They’ve got a Thursday-Saturday series at Arkansas this week beginning at 6:30 tonight on ESPNU.

Sikes Orvis has come on of late particularly in conference play.

Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco says Orvis was trying to do too much early in the season. Orvis agrees and says that’s not the case now.

Improving Orvis

Here are the pitching probables for the weekend. Expect Ole Miss to start Will Stokes or Jacob Waguespack on Saturday to be followed by a lot of relievers.

Ole Miss LHP Christian Trent (4-1, 3.11) vs. Arkansas RHP Dominic Taccolini (4-2, 3.21)

Ole Miss RHP Brady Bramlett (3-1, 1.54) vs. Arkansas RHP Trey Killian (0-1, 2.16)
