Best day for offense

Offense is where most of the injuries have been this spring, and that complicates matters for a unit with a quarterback competition and one that must go against a talented and experienced defense.

That being said, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Dan Werner said he and his staff “put some pressure” on their guys and told them they had to perform better in Saturday’s scrimmage.

Afterward Werner called it spring’s best day for the offense.

Earlier in the week Hugh Freeze told us he thought Chad Kelly sometimes played slow as he learns the system.

That may be the case, but Werner is pleased by the speed with which Kelly seems to be grasping things.

“It’s amazing how quickly he picks this stuff up,” Werner said.
