Class of 2016 continues to build momentum

By John Davis, Oxford Citizen

Saturday’s open practice at Ole Miss wasn’t just for fans, donors or media to get a glimpse of the Rebels on the sidelines at the Manning Center. There were a number of recruits there as well. Charles Wiley, a defensive end from Stockbridge, Georgia, was one of them.

Not long after his time in Oxford, the 6-foot-3, 243-pound Wiley decided Ole Miss is where he wanted to play football. Wiley is one of the nation’s top overall prospects, with ranking him No. 203 player, regardless of position. He has accumulated a number of offers, including Georgia, Auburn, Notre Dame, Florida State and Virginia Tech as some of the biggest.

Wiley is rated as the No. 10 overall defensive end prospect by Rivals and he is No. 23 on’s list. Last season, Wiley finished with 18 sacks and 57 tackles, according to The Atlanta Journal Constitution named him Defensive Player of the Year for the Southside Team and he was named to the AJC All-State team.

Here is a video link to Wiley’s highlights from the 2014 season.
