Tuesday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Tuesday morning …

The Rebel Road Trip stops in Tupelo today, the third day of the fourth annual event. We’ll have video and notes afterward.

The group hit Houston on Sunday, the first day, then hit Birmingham mid-day and Nashville in the evening on Monday.

Today Freeze and Friends will have breakfast in Corinth and dinner in Southaven.

Today also begins a five-game homestand for Ole Miss baseball which is 20-20 overall, 8-10 in SEC play. Alabama is in town this weekend. Before then it’s Central Arkansas tonight and Memphis tomorrow, both at 6:30. Mike Bianco wants to see you at Swayze:

Pavilion work at Ole Miss:

ESPN sent out this statement Monday when Tim Tebow’s signing by the Eagles went public:

“We appreciate Tim’s contributions to the launch of SEC Network and wish him all the best as he pursues his NFL dream. Tim quickly established a tremendous rapport with everyone he worked with in front of and behind the camera.   He has a tireless work ethic and a unique passion for football. Tim developed quickly into an excellent analyst. He has a home at ESPN when his playing career is done.” – John Wildhack, ESPN Executive Vice President, Programming and Production

That’s a nice landing spot if things don’t go well in Philadelphia, pretty good job security.

As you see all these former SEC players working with the SEC Network when — or if — an Ole Miss guy will get a shot. Maybe that’s not until Eli retires.

My vote for an Ole Miss guy as an SEC Network analyst goes to @CLARK_KENTrell. Kentrell Lockett media savvy guy I’ve covered at Ole Miss. Any other ideas?

How about Marshall Henderson offering opinions on basketball telecasts? …

In his first press conference with local media before his first season with the Charlotte Panthers, former Ole Miss star Michael Oher wants to put the Blind Side movie behind him. He doesn’t seem enthralled with the Tennessee Titans organization and seems happy to be out of Nashville. He says he has some things to prove and is still chasing greatness. …

More on Tebow from Gainesville Sun columnist Pat Dooley …

The new normal for college athletics will include less say for coaches in some matters. However, Georgia’s Mark Richt is one who has been appointed to an influential committee. …
