Wednesday Morning Update

From Swayze last night …

Memphis will put up more of a fight tonight. Ole Miss hit well against the Tigers and won 7-5 at AutoZone Park on March 31.

Memphis has gone 9-5 since that game and comes in at 26-12 overall, 7-5 in the American Athletic Conference. The Tigers have a 52 RPI against a 97 strength of schedule.

I will be at Swayze tonight, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how they handle the Star Wars theme.

Looks like Ole Miss got some productive innings from juco transfer left-hander Mitchel Babb in his first college start last night. Babb gave up three runs in four innings, but only one was earned. He also gave up seven hits and walked two.

The win improved Ole Miss to 21-20 overall. The Rebels continue to flirt with a sub-.500 overall mark that would keep them out of the NCAA tournament.

We’ve talked a lot about how this team could have the resume to make the field of 64 but not the overall record. For that to prove true the Rebels are going to have to starting winning SEC series. They’re 8-10 overall in the league with three of their last four series at home starting this weekend against Alabama.
