Final: Alabama 13, Ole Miss 4

The Sunday woes return for the Rebels.

Will Stokes didn’t get out of the first inning, and while Ole Miss relief pitching held the fort for a while, eventually a lack of depth showed up.

Alabama finished with 17 hits and put the game out of reach with six runs in the seventh.

Here’s Mike Bianco:

Stokes had two outs in the first and was close to ending the half inning with a more manageable deficit, but he gave up a two-run home run.

Alabama got its first lead of the weekend in the first inning but was never really close to trailing in Game 3.

Austin Knight had a two-run home run — one of his three hits — to make it 4-2 in the second inning. But Alabama got the run back in the fourth. The teams traded single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Jacob Waguespack held things close for a while. He went three innings and allowed just one run.

Here’s Waguespack:

The only Rebel baseball game I have managed to watch this season, it had to be this one where the Rebs get blown out by Alabama. But looking ahead to better days of Rebel baseball this season. Do believe I seen Kinfolk at that game,so it was not a total disappointment, Wife and i will be making a trip to Oxford in a few days to attend her family reunion. Looking forward to this occasion, hopeful to visit my mother and dads grave site at Tula. Not a day that goes by that i don’t have memories of Mississippi and the Oxford area. family, friends , hunting, fishing, Ole Miss football and baseball. even the cotton fields in Potlockney creek bottom land.. Thanks PA and your sports journal for allowing me to post here. Jimmy Barbee.
