Monday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Monday morning …

Bomb Tracking from Ole Miss operations assistant Andrew Case:

Bortles’ home run gave the Rebels some breathing room in a 10-2 win over Alabama on Saturday, a day that turned out to be the Rebels’ most complete of the season. Ole Miss got two great starts, solid bullpen work, played errorless in the field and hit .367 for the day.

Then on Sunday the Rebels reverted and gave back the small gains they’d made. They’re a game over .500 going into Tuesday’s matchup with Mississippi State in Pearl.

That’s the current state of the Rebels. They can’t seem to get on a roll which has to due with lack of pitching depth.

If I had to pick and MVP for this team right now it would be Bortles with Brady Bramlett and Scott Weathersby co-runners-up.

LSU narrowly missed a sweep of Texas A&M in a matchup of the two best teams in the SEC. The Tigers benefited from a missed call — a strike call that ended the opener and could have turned Game 1 to the Aggies. That’s not why A&M didn’t win the series, however.

Scott Rabalais of the Baton Rouge Advocate says both of these teams are bound for Omaha. …
