Dayton’s Archie Miller has been a hot name on the coaching carousel the last couple of years. Now the Flyers have extended him through 2022. That means nothing of course if he continues to excel and a program with enough cash to handle the buyout wants to approach him.

Fox Sports columnist David Ubben says a Big 12 championship game would be a mistake. It would ruin the easiest path among conferences to the national playoff. The fact that the Big 12 was left out last year won’t be the norm, he says, and skipping one more big game will be advantageous more often than not. …

Also from Fox, Bruce Feldman says Tennessee is gathering the pieces to be an SEC football title contender. …

Ole Miss softball needs one more win to set a school record. The Rebels have three games at Texas A&M plus the SEC tournament remaining.

Wanted: High profile football foes for the University of Georgia. The administration says such deals are in the works but not with Ohio State or Michigan for various reasons. Keep throwing out names, though, and you could hit on something. …

I’m not a Bass Pro regular, but I will visit the newest venture in Memphis just to see the Pyramid again.
