The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Senquez Golson this evening in the second round of the NFL draft, the No. 56 pick.
NFL media gave it mixed reviews early. ESPN’s Mel Kiper raved about it on the set calling it one of the best picks of the draft.
Golson went a little higher than many had projected. Most had him going in the third round.
Like Golson but Steelers might've overpaid. Think he'd have been there a round later.
Steelers.com quickly put up a little bio information on Golson.
Early Twitter reaction from Steelers fans seemed to favor the pick, noting Golson’s athleticism.
Golson had an SEC-leading 10 interceptions last year.
He’s regarded as a guy with good technique and ball skills that will overcome his underwhelming height.
Golson is expected to provide immediate help at nickle back. He’s the highest drafted Ole Miss player since Dexter McCluster was taken in the second round with the 36th pick in 2010.
