Final: Ole Miss 17, Arkansas State 3

It was indeed a monster game for Orvis. He was 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs and eight RBIs.

It was the second-straight multi-home run game for Orvis, who now has 16 home runs on the year.

Errol Robinson hit well again, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and his first home run of the year.

Fifteen hits overall for the Rebels.

Will Stokes got the win in relief. He went 4 1-3 innings, his longest outing since six innings and the win against Vanderbilt on April 11.

The big news here is Ole Miss is five games over .500 and no matter what happens the rest of the way the Rebels will leave the SEC tournament no worse than one game over .500 which leaves them eligible for an NCAA bid, something their conference wins, RPI and strength of schedule should make a reality.

Quite frankly…I was +pleasantly+ shocked/surprised that the Rebels managed to smash the Red Wolves like they did. They played earlier in the season (Feb. 24th) and the Rebels won by a 2-1 score.
Will Stokes did redeem himself somewhat last night but he’s not entirely out of the woods. The Red Wolves ‘handicapped’ themselves by not going deep into their bullpen…saving arms for their final series this weekend.

I would hope the boys in red&blue carry this momentum forward and put it to the Aggies tomorrow.

Now comes the tough part of rebel schedule, Texas A&M., But the easy part is the Rebels face them in Oxford. If, that is, if Rebs can take two of the three they should get a good seed in the uncoming SEC tournament. I think the Rebs will make the NCAA tournament. RPI is good thanks to the hard schedule they have faced and won over high ranking teams, now two of three from A&M, who is highly ranked, this weekend would strength that RPI rating, in my opinion that is.for what its worth and thats not much.
