Brewer’s Porch

Hey guys, just checking in to say I won’t be checking in for the week ahead. I’ll be on vacation for the first of three weeks.

Our Billy Brewer package appeared in today’s Daily Journal.

It was fun sitting and visiting with Brewer, and here’s what he had to say.

I didn’t approach the Brewer interview with the idea of writing a Chucky Mullins story, but I knew we’d spend a lot of time on that topic.

It was something that consumed Brewer. I hoped to give the Mullins story a different angle, and the question was how did the entire chain of events — the injury, Chucky’s hospital stay, the rehabilitation, the fund-raising, the national conversation — how did it all change Brewer.

The answer, at least in the day-to-day operations of Ole Miss football, was not much, but it’s easy to see the lasting impact those days had on Billy Brewer.
